I came out to Seattle in 1996 to do stand-up comedy and actually did it for 3 years. I even got paid for it a couple of times. Then I forayed into acting, improv and writing. I have continually explored all these topics.
I found myself doing more software industry work than creative work. Many of my assignments have been life changing. Some of those include being a programmer/analyst at Orrtax and a software tester at MITS. Swimming around in Taxes and Business Intelligence gave me a different perspective on business and how the world works than I might have had. My life has been a learning experience.
I was at MITS for nine years. That's a long time for a techie in the Seattle area. The thing I loved about MITS was the "get it done" attitude. We were all the right people in the right position. I tend to compare it to engaging in a team sport. When I started, MITS was very much a legacy product with all the issues that legacy products tend to have. We took that product from legacy to the 21st Century. AND, it still was faithful to it's original purpose. It was an exciting time. That is why I stayed for as long as I did.
MITS was acquired by White Cup in 2019. I stayed on for two years to help the changeover. Then it was time for a long break.
Now it's time for a new challenge. I've been a manual tester for a long time and I'm ready to do something else. I would like to work with customers (not as phone support) or with a team in a support role. An example might be taking care of a team of Sales Professionals. Although I've used many of the tools out there, I've been shoring up my skills. LinkedIn Learning has been invaluable.
If you want to learn more about what I have to offer and see if I'd be a good fit, come visit me on linkedIn. It's still set up for the Tech world but you can see what I've been upto in my trainings. Visit me on LinkedIn.
Let's get to it.
